Owls of Ikan
The Owls were once the magic order of the Empire of Alharien. They existed as part of the military hierarchy of the Army of Ikan, but further more organized magic users of any kind.
It was common for a single Owl to get assigned to a unit of the army and navy as a consultant in questions of magic. Special operation often involved task forces of Owls to perform special rituals required for a military operation.
Beyond their military involved the Owls were intertwined with every aspect of life in the Empire of Alharien - leading the charge in research and civil construction. Many of the miracles of the Empire of Alharien, like the road network spanning the continent, the enormous perfectly circular walls of Ikan or magic infused industrial complexes were only possible due to the order of the Owls.
Prior to the events leading to the Contract of the Dragon all Owls of the Empire of Alharien disappeared seemingly over night. With them disappeared also the magic in the empire and the magical miracles fell silent. Although the relation of cause and effect as well the exact order of events are still debated till today.
