Carlos Santinalla

Carlos grew up in the Santinalla household, outside the city of Freeport in Antonica. The Santinalla clan, a long line of renowned monster hunters and witchers, was a clan that helped around the world in whatever ways they could, fighting back evil by declaring war on the creatures of the darkness. This is most demonstrated by the Santinalla's rivalry with Mayong Mistmoore, the first vampire. Carlos read that the Santinallas and Mistmoore faced each other in battle many times across history in a seemingly endless battle to stop Mistmoore from ascending to godhood.
Growing up not as well versed in melee combat as his brethren, Carlos focused his studies on the magical arts passed down by the Santinallas. He’d hoped to become a powerful caster that could rival the most powerful monsters, perhaps even Mistmoore himself, with his arcane abilities.
Around the city there had been rumors that the Santinalla clan practiced dark magic and harnessed the power from the beasts they killed in order to become more powerful. These rumors were wholly untrue to Carlos's knowledge, and it is unknown who spread these rumors, but Carlos believed Sir Lucan D'Lere, the head of Freeport's corrupt militia and de facto leader of the city, might have led the movement in order to take down the Santinallas. The Santinalla clan was among the most honorable and beloved clans in Freeport and one of the few that had not succumbed to corruption.
In 5391, when Carlos was 16, a large mob began approaching the Santinalla manor, with pitchforks and torches at the ready. On that fateful night, most of the Santinalla clan was killed, with Carlos hiding in a hidden cellar in the basement. The house was burnt down, but through the rubble and the ashes Carlos was able to escape once the mob had retreated and the dust had settled. Fearful to use his family name near the city, Carlos began been running around Antonica for the next several years. Unfortunately, he seemed to have a knack for making many enemies and getting himself in all sorts of trouble.
After becoming a bit too notorious in Antonica, he decided to flee to Faydwer by stowing away on one of the many transport ships between the continents. His travels around Faydwer have been decidedly less problematic, though not without incident. It was during this time that he met his best friend and partner, both in and out of crime, Arya Kinnis.
In 5400, Carlos had a chance encounter with Mayong Mistmoore himself after discovering a fallen Elven outpost.
