Nezznar
(a.k.a. The Black Spider)
The drow wizard responsible for various plights around Phandalin including the Redbrands, the goblins, and the kidnapping of Gundren Rockseeker. His desire to build an army led him to find Wave Echo Cave by any means necessary. What the army was for, however, is still a mystery.
Nezznar was slain by the party on March 13th, 1401 DR. During the battle, Nezznar's true form was revealed, and he was seen to be more than just a wizard. After his death, he infected Trinn with some of his blood.
