The war began when the dragon god Garyx sent an avatar to lead a flight of red dragons to attack the giant nation. Soon afterward, all races of dragonkind were involved in the conflict. The patron god of giants, Annam All-Father joined his creations in their struggle and crafted devastating weapons capable of slaying any dragon.   After more than a thousand years of warfare, Ostoria finally reached a truce with dragonkind. Accounts of the nature of the truce were conflicting because many races accounted the event differently. The giants say that it was settled through a game of wah-ree, an ancient strategic board game, between Garyx and Annam All-Father that ended in a stalemate.   One giant that still lives from the war, hidden in an ancient tomb near Neverwinter, claims that it was a civil war amongst the dragons that brought forth the truce.
