With no heir apparent, various political and military figures vie for the throne.

In the wake of the attack on the capital, Gralea, in which the Emperor and his immediate family were killed the remaining leadership tried to maintain order. Arguments soon ensued on how to move forward: return to being a republic, install a new emperor and if so who, or set up different form of government.   Due to the lack of central leadership, and the uncertainty on how to move forward, multiple political and military figures made claims on the throne, each with their own supporters back them. It did not take long for this tension to spark militarized conflicts between these factions across the empire's lands.   One of the main contenders for the throne is the Secundus Kingsglaive - Artorius Gilga.
