The word driven was created for Ariella. From her birth to her death she was always reaching for the stars. Never content to keep her feet on the ground she would climb and run, treating The Vale of Alungar as her private playground. No corner was safe from her or her brother, Rell Quinto . Together they explored every corner and plundered every bar. Their drunken exploits were the things of legend and many fell by the wayside trying to keep up with them.
With her natural talents and constant desire to be better, she should have been elevated to the dragon riders and beyond. If there was any divine justice, Gorphin should have called out from his cave and proclaimed her first among equals, but Gorphin sleeps and justice is a thing for fairy tales.
Maybe Ariella always knew her fate. Throughout her life, she'd protected her brother from their father's anger, from loan sharks after their pound of flesh, and from the many that took his careless attitude as disrespect so she was no stranger to the darker side of life but she tried anyway.
Only two things mattered to Ariella, her brother and flying, but in the end, she could only choose one.
