Pillar of the Sun

On the southeastern corner of Nov Matar there sits the Pillar of the Sun, one of the eight Pillars of Heaven. About ten feet across at the base and a hundred feet high, the pillar is rough-hewn out of what looks like pure yellow topaz. It glows golden in the daylight and turns rosy in the evening. It is said that when the sons of Anjes came upon the Pillar they camped around it and dreamed that they could hear a song coming from it. As they studied the song they began to unlock their abilities in magic and many became the first manipulators of thermal energy, wielding the powers of heat, cold and fire.

Purpose / Function

The Archenlord created this and the other Pillars of Heaven, to seal the Fallen from the world. The relationship between this and the other pillars, forms an invisible force-field, something akin to the magnetic field created by the relationship between magnetic objects. This force-field is called the Veil. For long centuries the Kindred have learned to draw power from the Veil. This power, we call magic.

Alterations

Since the founding of The Kindred Peoples peoples, the Archenlord warned them to sojourn to the pillars and defend them against the servants of the Fallen, for if they were to fall into the hands of these servants, they could bypass the pillars and break the seal, permitting their dark masters to enter Nov Matar and likely causing an end to all we know. As such, when the children of Anjes and Arron came to the Pillar of the Sun they built around it a massive tower around it that they called the Tower of the Sun. Around this they built a city and layers of defenses such that they could defend it well against the servants of the Fallen.
