Shadow Thief
Thieves are usually stealthy and dexterous or speedy characters that are able to use special equipment and/or skills to disarm traps, pick locks, spy on foes, perform backstabs from hiding, avoid enemy detection and outwit any local law enforcement and sometimes military authorities, especially around towns where they tend to do the most stealing, while escaping fines, criminal record and inprisonment.
Although thieves may be of any moral alignment (Good, Neutral, or Evil), they are usually either required or pressured to maintain a Chaotic or at least non-Lawful (i.e., Chaotic or Neutral) ethical alignment.
Thieves are known to use the Black Market to sell their Stolen and/or Illegal Goods.

Different tasks give different rewards.
There are bonuses to the Thief Profession if you are also an Assassin Class.
The higher your Thief Skill, the easier it gets to be able to successfully pick the pockets of some NPC's.
However, Some NPC's may be harder then others to steal from, but the harder it is to pick their pockets, the greater your potential rewards will be.
The more an NPC is pick pocketed from by you, the higher its Victim Perception goes up, thus potentially making it harder for you to steal from them. Some NPC's will never catch on, while others will be on to you straight away if you are not lucky.
For successfully stealling from an NPC, you may receive a monetary reward, or an item that is specific to that NPC.
Not all NPC's can be pick pocketed (NPC's who can be pick pocketed are indicated on our interactive map as a black dot marker)
When you go to interact with an NPC that can be pick pocketed, you will be asked if you would like to make and attempt or not.
If you decline, you will be able to interact with the NPC as per normal.
If you choose to try and pick the NPC's pockets, you risk getting caught and will need to accept the resulting consequences.
If you are caught trying to pick pockets, you will not be able to interact with certain NPC's for 24 hours from the moment you were caught. Also, if you are caught, some NPC's will have you put in prison, So be careful.
If you find yourself in prison, you will have to either do a side quest to get or bribe a nearby guard.
The The Thieves Guild does not tolerate any association with the Mayor or his people. If you are found to be working with or for the Mayor while also in the Guild, you will find yourself removed from the guild and not necessarily breathing.
Becoming a Thief
The thief profession can be learnt from talking Rian Reader, who can be found in the ground floor of the The Slippery When Wet: Bathhouse. Rian will ask you if you would like to become a thief, you will have the option to accept or decline. If you accept, he will tell you to prove yourself by successfully pick pocketing 10 times, before returning to him so he can teach you. One of the perks to the Thief Profession is that you can also have one of the AoC professions. Please Note: In order to be able to talk to Rian, you need to have completed the 'Broken Highway' quest chain, and the required 'Port Haven Town' tour questline.Thief Profession Leveling

General Information:
Thief & Assassin
Just like the Assassins, Thieves are usually nimble melee or ranged combatants, and tend to be focused on dodging attacks rather than withstanding damage. They often attack by dual-wielding daggers or with other small one-handed and/or concealable weapons, relying on speed and rapid strikes rather than sheer damage output. Thieves usually have a stealth ability, allowing them to disappear from sight, often this is combined with attacking an unaware or flanked opponent to inflict high damage.Warning!
