Candlekeep

Candlekeep is the largest known library in the world. it is managed by the Gwyndilon Institute.
Candlekeep is like a massive campus, with high stone walls on its perimeter. It sits on a peninsula near Amberport. The only access by land is across a long stone bridge over a chasm. The campus is broken up into tiers. There are many different buildings and towers which jut up unevenly across the campus. Often times giant owls can be seen flying in the sky above the library.
Candlekeep does not permit outsiders to enter past the public library, except for outstanding circumstances, or if they are able to offer up some form of offering. Usually this offering must be some kind of knowledge or artifact that is not already in their vast repository.

Front Gate

The gate to Candlekeep sits at the end of a long bridge white marble bridge which spans a chasm, at the bottom of which is the turbulent waters of the sea. The walls of Candlekeep can be seen on the other side of the chasm, tall walls of white marble, topped with crenelations. The gatehouse stands higher than the surrounding walls, and is flanked by two enormous statues of gleaming brass, one of a raven and one of an owl. The gates themselves are 10ft double doors of the same brass, with the image of a three eyed owl depicted on them. At the front gate, weapons are collected from all visitors by the guards who are posted there.

Colleges

The University is split between the arcane schools and the mundane schools, with the arcane students and faculty being generally snooty and aloof towards the non-arcane students.

The Curators

The Curators are magically animated clockwork automatons that oversee much of the maintenance of Candlekeep. It is unknown who built the Curators or how, but it is assumed they were created by whoever built Candlekeep as they were here when Candlekeep was first discovered.

The Triad Sport

Wizard's in the arcane schools participate in a sport where wizard's fight different kinds of magical beasts under their control in a 3 person FFA format.
