Dragonborn

Dragonborn are a race of draconic humanoids most commonly found in Perax. They are believed by Peraxians (and many others) to be descendants of the ancient dragon gods and Peraxian nobles. As such, the dragonborn in Perax are viewed with a sense of awe and respect similar to that of royalty. Outside of Perax dragonborn are viewed with a mixed sentiment. The inhabitants of Indarra do not take too kindly to the dragonborn due to the recent invasion attempt by Perax.

Dragonborn are tall, strong humanoids. Their bodies are covered in metalic scales and come in all the same colors as their dragon ancestors. Dragon born reach maturity at 30 years old and can live to be up to 500.  

Game Statistics (3.5e)

  • +2 Strength, +1 Charisma.
  • Size: Medium.
  • Speed: 30 ft.
  • Breath Weapon (Su): A dragonborn has a breath weapon attack. The breath weapon is a line 30 feet long and 5 feet wide. The breath weapon deals The breath weapon deals 1d8 points of damage, plus an extra 1d8 points for each 3 HD the dragonborn possesses (2d8 at 3 HD, 3d8 at 6 HD, and so on). The damage can be acid, cold, electricity, or fire, chosen when the character is created. A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 the dragonborn's HD + her Con modifier) halves the damage. A dragonborn can use its breath weapon once every 1d6 rounds.
  • +1 natural armor bonus.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Draconic.

Game Statistics (5e)

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
  • Age. Young dragonborn grow quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach adulthood by 15. They live to be around 80.
  • Size. Dragonborn are taller and heavier than humans, standing well over 6 feet tall and averaging almost 250 pounds. Your size is Medium.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Draconic Ancestry. You are distantly related to a particular kind of dragon. Choose a type of dragon from the below list; this determines the damage and area of your breath weapon, and the type of resistance you gain.

  • Breath Weapon. You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. It deals damage in an area according to your ancestry. When you use your breath weapon, all creatures in the area must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your ancestry. The DC of this saving throw is 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increase to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th, and 5d6 at 16th level. After using your breath weapon, you cannot use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
  • Damage Resistance. You have resistance to the damage type associated with your ancestry.
  • Languages. You can read, speak, and write Common and Draconic.
