Progress Phykol
Headquartered in Skipsea, Dalia, the Progress Phykol Company is the principle producer and importer of phykoleum in eastern Ewura since merging with Barmouth Oil and buying out Ushul Energy, both in 5.897. Progress' only major competitor, Algeol, produces less than two-thirds of Progress' annual volume of phykoleum.
Progress has been criticised by the new Bjerian Republic for hampering rebuilding efforts in the aftermath of the Mage War, amplifying allegations of of price-fixing made by the Sroian Provisional Government. These allegations have been denied by Progress' CFO Jackie Gill, and the Dalian, Volend, and Opeidian Govenors of Sroia.
Structure
Progress is vertically integrated, active in every part of the development, supply and distribution, and refinement of industrial and domestic phykoleum.
Research facilities in Caushead are attempting to selectively breed new strains of goldenscale algae that produce more oil, and research in Weshamb is attempting to improve the efficiency of extraction and find new uses for waste biomass.
With the collapse of Barmouth Oil, Progress acquired the pipeline, rail, and canal infrastructure for transporting raw phykoleum throughout eastern Ewas, as well as Barmouth's aviation fuel refinery. Renamed Progress Aviation, the Barmouth facility continues to operate much as it did before.
Although primarily concerned with industrial and transportation fuel, Progress have branched out into the domestic market and, with the acquisition of Ushul Energy, acquired an approximate 20% share the home fuel sector and, as of 5.923, have begun to move into experimenting with wholesale generation and supply of electrical energy, with the first electrical plant expected to open in 5.926.
Assets
Progress operates major hydroponics plants and refineries in Dalia (Barmouth, Weshamb), Creia (Seaford), and Opeid (Braudir), and manage pipelines through Volenland and Alcesbia. The Weshamb plant is an experimental polyculture designed to improve stability and yield, and the Barmouth refinery is capable of producing aviation-grade phykoleum and supplies three quarters of the region's aviation fuel. The remainder is imported from Kjeforland, Orajia, and Awaia.
