Chandra and The Gift of Fire

This legend is scripture often told and repeated to those who worship Agni but also commonly told in The Meletus Tribe given their relation to fire.   The story goes as so...   There once lived a great Nusantaran hero known as Chandra. Her town and the people of Nusantara struggled to survive against the beasts that once commonly roamed the lands. She was a powerful hunter, yet her people were outnumbered by the creatures of the night. Chandra left her town to seek power that would save her town. This journey away from home took her to the dark underground where she encountered a tribe of Ebu Gogo. They spoke and said "great warrior, we will not allow you to pass into our underground for you would taste much better in our bellies". Chandra spoke and said "Ebu Gogo, you would not eat me for I have a vigor in my heart that would cause you to explode". Intimidated by the idea of self-combustion, they let her pass. Further in the underdark, Chandra would come across a grand cavern shaped like a large cauldron. There the god of fire, Agni, appeared at the center of the cave in a sudden flash across the stone walls. He spoke saying "great warrior, why have you come to this abandoned cauldron". Chandra replied to Agni telling him or their woes against the creatures of the night, "Great Agni, I seek power that will defend my village". Agni nodded in understanding replying with "Now you must understand great warrior that this power and fire in your heart breeds chaos, I will grant you this power, but you must use it wisely". She responded with "Thank you great Agni, I will use this power wisely, my discipline will control it". Chandra then returned to her village just as the creatures of the night began to prowl. She used the power of fire to sway them away from the village. However, in a moment of misunderstanding, she used the fire to go on the offensive against the creatures. In her rampage, she unknowingly caught her town on fire causing many to perish from the power that was supposed to protect them. Since this flame has since escaped the signal control of Chandra, fire has been a gift to humanity and a curse ever since. As for Chandra, the towns people saw her as a bearer of destruction for which she was burned, branded, and shamed.
