The Dutchian Empire

"It is the word of god that grants us the right to this new world" - Pontiff Corbach

The Dutchian mainly consists of Humans and High Dutchians with the assistance of Warforged built by the scholars of the High Dutchians. There is a divide among the humans and the high dutchians in their ideals. The High Dutchians worship a kind of catholic religion worshiping a god not a part of the Nusantaran pantheon. Humans tend to practice a form of humanism that focuses on rugged individualism and status in society. Because of this, the power in the Dutchian culture is split between government and church. Humans tend to be inventors, knights, and government, while high dutchian take on the role of monks, priests, and scholars. Warforged were created as a way to avoid menial tasks and for use in war. They have full autonomy but none of the weaknesses of mortals. The Dutchian colonies have the gothic but colorful structures seen in the likes of their cities back at home. Ultimately, they are ruled by a human king and a high dutchian pontiff. At the start of the main campaign, they have made a colony that has been in the Nusantaran land for some 2 years where they have made an alliance with The Racun Tribe. They’ve now started to move further into the continent to explore the foreign land.

Structure

The structure of The Dutchian Empire is a triumvirate of power. The head of the government and the state is the kingdom consisting mostly of humans. With this, they make the common law of the land. However, their power is subject to the power of the church as the leader is always ordained by the church. The outside 3rd body of this power structure are the people that don't know they have power at all, the warforged. With their war capabilities and numbers, the warforged could easily overthrow the government and church. However, if there is no one repair them or create more, they will just die out eventually even though they are free.

Culture

For a long time, the people of New Netherlands fought each other for the land they were on. Now that they are united, there are still tensions between regions. However this uniting has given an overall solidarity among the common Dutchian person. Religion is at the center of most of their lives while others focus on working. Some Dutchian in smaller cities simply live to work and earn money so they can purchase commodities. Even then, there is deep rooted nationalism in their blood that informs their decisions about the new world full of people different from them.

Public Agenda

The goal of the empire is to expand and engage in colonialism. With an ever growing population, the only choice is to find other lands and especially other resources.

Assets

The Dutchian have a decent amount of access to magic but are lacking much on the nature side of magic. With this, it allows them to forge weapons like rifles and swords easily. Additionally, the magic that created the warforged allows them to build war machines and airships. They also have plenty of land for farming and industry but they eventually are going to need more. Their more advanced development means they have the benefits of architecture and engineering that they can use for building.

History

Back before the empire was formed, the high dutchian and humans fought each other similarly to how they do in most fantasy settings. Among that conflict was internal conflict among the races. The high dutchian were secluded to the forest and their faith while humans were held up in their castles. Eventually the high dutchian rejected their natural origin and built magical constructs called the warforged. These machines would unite the empire under one rule. As humans began to believe in their faith, Aasimar began to be born as saints to the gods. Now they stand united but ready to shatter at any moment.

Demography and Population

The empire contains Humans, High Dutchian, Warforged, and Aasimar. The percentages are 40% Warforged, 30% Human, 25% High Dutchian, 5% Aasimar.

Territories

The empire owns all of their own continent along with the two colonies on Kaki Kadal. They are continuing to grow though.

Military

The military is mostly warforged led by humans and occasionally supported by magic using high dutchians. Their armies also have access to magical constructs like iron golems.

Foreign Relations

Their relations with Nusantara are good right now. There is no open war even if there is some fighting every now and then between radical parties.

Education

Most of the Dutchian population are highly educated. This is because of their positions of power. Warforged are often not taught more than they need to know for fear that they will rise from their oppression when given an education of higher standards.

Mythology & Lore

In the beginning the 3 gods were primordial beings who lived in the cosmos. Spiritus allowed the Dutchian into the heaven while Pater cultivated the animals on the planet. From here the dutchian lost favor with Spiritus and they were exiled to Pater's realm. Then for their sins they were further sent to Filius's realm to be punished. Only if they could abolish their sins would they be allowed back to the heaven.

Ethics

To be free of sin is to follow the word of Spiritus. Their ethics primarily center around whatever the current Pontiff allows. If the Pontiff allows murder in the name of god, then a crusade can be seen as a holy quest. If the Pontiff allows stealing from each other, then it is not a sin. If you commit sins, they you are sent Filius's realm of death.
