Fireweed Lake

Fireweed Lake is an enormous lake in southern Ankomst that is more than 20 miles across and almost 60 miles long. It gets its name from the glowing red vegetation that lines it banks and grows from its shallows. The fireweed only grows in this lake and looks very much like a normal cattail, except the head of the plants glows bright red and in large concentrations actually lights up the surrounding area even on the darkest nights. The Celtic peoples generally fear the lake as they believe monsters hid in its depths and hunt in the eerie soft light of the fireweed. Still, some will brave the shallows in order to collect fireweed for it many uses in decorating and illuminating homes and walkways.
