Hand of Tyr
This is a paladin order devoted to Miriador and centered in Meadehall, although they may be found throughout the kingdom.
Members of the hand of Tyr, generally incorporate blue into their garb. Some wear blue cloaks over their armor, or have blue symbols, painted under their breasts, or other adornments on helmets and shields. They usually found in full platemail and carry bastard swords, or long swords, although some have been found, carrying hammers and axes.
They often travel in small groups, although can be seen in pairs. The order is the military arm of the priests of Tyr, and enforce the justice sentenced by the priests.
Although headquartered in Meade Hall, members of the Hand will be found the length and breadth of the kingdom of Miriador. They are vested with the authority to write minor wrongs on the spot, but generally serve as an enforcement for wide, sweeping legal proclamations. In this capacity, they serve not only the priests, but also the king.
The ranking member of the order is known as the high bailiff, and he is granted a lifetime appointment by the high priest of Tyr. The orders history goes back to the formation of the kingdom, when the early kings vested authority in warriors, who served them to defend the realm from internal and external threats, and to meet out justice within the borders of the kingdom. As the borders expanded, the need for internal law-enforcement grew and the order became more preoccupied with domestic affairs than protecting the kingdom from external threats.
