Land of Thrym

Technically, the Land of Thrym is the cold, mountainous region at the northern end of Apenrike. It is an extremely cold, rocky and inhospitable land that rings the northernmost reaches of the planet's largest continent. It is the home of frost giants, ice salamanders, trolls, and yetis. Figuratively, it is an expression used by the civilized races to refer to a cold situation, or an area that is cold. For example, an unusually cold day in the Northern Kingdoms may cause a street sweeper to look up from his work and excmlaim that the Land of Thrym has come to Vilion, or a frustrated parent may yell at a child who has left the front door open, "Close the door, its colder than the Land of Thrym out there!"
