Sigurd the Black
Sigurd the Black was one of the many sons of King Thrule Throdson of Big Tide. Like his brothers, he set out from his fathers house to seek his fortune. He spent much of his younger days raiding the northern Hesterherre coast and selling slaves to the merchants in Sparsport and the miners in Riga. Joining the Uflhednar and fighting in the brief King and Council War between Derna and Sparsport in 965 CE, his battle prowess qickly made him a leader amongst the beserkers. Following the defeat of Derna in the war with Sparsport, Sigurd saw his opportunity and claimed the throne of Derna for himself. Holding little sway over the interior of the Baranian coast, he is oftern referred to as the "Eastern Sea-King".
