Valley of the Bear

The Valley of the Bear is the geographic center, and the heart of the Bear Clan territory. It is named for a large natural rock formation in the middle of the valley that is shaped like a bear. Clan mythology claims that the bear once roamed the valley as a living creature during the creation of the world.  It's rooting for grubs and roots is what dug the valley between the Boodstained Hills and the Matthair Hills.  It gave birth to the first members of the Bear Clan, who nursed as the great bear laid in the valley.  The men born of the great bear were exceptionally large and fierce founders of the Clan, and gained great strength nursing from the bear.  They eventually sapped all the strength from her body and claimed it as their own, leaving her turned to stone in the middle of the valley.  It is from this bear that the Clan derives its great strength and the outcropping in the valley remains one of this clan's most revered sites.
