War of King and Council

This war took place between the city of Derna under the leadership of their King, Lagna the Spike, and the city of Sparsport in 965 CE.   Sparsport grew tired of the constant raiding of its shipping by Derna pirates and raised a land army to lay seige to Derna.  The Derna King, Langa turned to the beserker mercenary company of Ulfhednar but they were not enough to break the seige.  Derna surrendered and Langa was forced to flee by ship.  One of the Ulfhednar captains, Sigurd, seized the throne for himself and was backed by his father, the king of Big Tide.  He cut a deal of peace with Sparsport, but quickly rebuilt the Dern fleet and now recevies a weregild from that city as well.
