Rite of Transference
An Eldyr's Ruling is a powerful connection to the World Core of Oabos and is devastating to the individuals within the Ruling. While the Ruling is a direct connection to the World Core, it can be shifted. There are many reasons to change a Ruling. Young Eldyr might accept a Ruling from their parent, or a large Ruling might be broken down into multiple smaller Rulings. In the current era, the most common reason to transfer a Ruling is to allow Myth Touched to move to a new region of the world, without remaining tethered to the distant Eldyr of their homeland.
The process of moving an individual from one Ruling to another is referred to as the Transference. The Rite of Transference must be performed by both the giving and receiving Eldyr, and cannot be forced upon an unwilling Eldyr. In the case of two Eldyr that are very distant from each other and cannot communicate directly during the rite, they will be able to communicate through their mutual connection to the world core. Done this way the rite does take longer, but is still possible. Very rarely a dying Eldyr will attempt the rite without a prior connection to another, in a last attempt to save their Ruling from the Withering. Doing so rushes the rite and causes them to reach out searching for any possible connection. This often fails due to the time needed to make the connection, and the desperate Eldyr dying before the rite can be completed.
The full Ritual of Transference is completed with both Eldyr together at a Prismem vein, where they can further strengthen their connection to the World Core. They then form a connection between each other, including a sense of anyone in their perspective Rulings. Thru this connection and sense of each other they are able to instinctively work together to shift individual connections from one to the other. The Eldyr will stay in this meditative state of connection until all desired transference has occurred.
