Empire

The Empire was the ruling political force on Obica. While the Empire ruled over the entire continent, their primary seat of power was located within the Din Badlands.
The imperial race has a distinctive skull shape, and speaks Eldari as their primary language.

Political Philosophy

The Empire ruled primarily through the subjugation of all other groups on the continent. They consider all races other than their own inferior, and enslaved all other cultures. During their rule, many escaped into the Exodus Lands.

Technological Advances

Using the magical ley lines around Obica, the Empire built eight towers around the continent, mostly across the coastline a some in the Skeld Mountain Range, each channeling a different school of magic. These towers have created a magical barrier that keep certain natural processes from taking place, such as death and passing to the after life.
The Empire researched many other magical technologies, such as the Soul Catch.

History

The Empire's primary city was a beautiful and prosperous land. Those who were considered unworthy of their paradise were exiled to the Hollylin Woods.
An explorer returned with a shard of black crystal. It was able to control time. The explorer gave this gift to the Emperor, but kept a small shard for himself. With control over time, the Empire was able to do extensive research and make large technological advances.
Physical bodies cannot live forever, and the Empire developed a way to transfer consciousnesses into mechanical constructs.
The original explorer felt that these advances and new knowledge should be shared for the benefit of all peoples. He used his shard and abnormally long life to travel and offer healing aid to any who needed it. He developed a large and loyal following of those subjugated by the Empire, which eventually lead to rebellion. During the uprising, he work below the city to make those who were dying on the front lines more and more mechanical so that they could continue to fight.
An uprising of the Elf, Dwarf, and Azra peoples was able to overthrow the Empire. However, as a final act of vengeance, the Empire activated and dropped a magical weapon from the sky. They used the Divination Tower to discover where the dissenters were located on the southern peninsula. This weapon devastated the entire southern peninsula of the continent, destroying the elven homeland. Many elves escaped (or had been exiled) into the Hollylin Woods, but their original lands came to be known as the Clovus Waste.
