Twin Fingers

It’s a bustling port on the east coast of Obica. It’s an interesting port in that it is not far away from the volcanic island of Chipstone Ridge, which sits about 50 miles East of the coast. The constant geothermal activity of the island range pumps gasses and heat to the surface through thermal ducts deep on the seafloor. This promotes a variety of aquatic flora and fauna which the fishing boats of Twin Fingers.   The name Twin Fingers is derived from the two rivers that pass on the north and south of the town. Each form into a major river further upstream and connect with the largest lake in Obica, Iron Run Lake. The mixture of cool fresh water from the mountains exiting into the hot sea often leads to irregular storms of magnificent size. These storms have been known to cause problems for ships trying to approach the town.   When not hit with an extreme squall, Twin Fingers usually experience a tropical climate compared to the rest of the landmass. Proximity to the volcanic isles promotes growth of palms, bright flowers, colorful fruit, and a vast array of insects. The beaches themselves are a mixture of volcanic rock that has washed ashore, and fine white sand. These beaches are sometimes visited by nobles, or those more well off who can spend free time not in the fields, or working a trade 24/7.   The town layout consists of large floating docks that extend out from land to allow for unloading and loading onto large ships who can’t quite make it to the shore. Many moorings are available for small and medium ships, but few for large. Those that can’t make it to a mooring are often anchored off the coast and have flat bottom ferries to assist with transport of goods to land. The town authority mans and maintains these docks, and charges a berthing fee, as well as taxing goods entering from outside Obica.   Exiting the docks themselves you’ll enter the wharf district which connects to many of the long docks. The main buildings in this area are low stone and wood constructions that tie into the fishing and shipping business in the area. The fisheries handle the catches of the locals and prepare them for shipment up river or to other parts of the country. There are also warehouses which store non-perishables for shipping either over sea or onto land. Finally, there is a shipwright and shipyard where repairs can be undertaken, as well as a drydock for building.

Spending Money in Twin Fingers

Leaving the wharf district by heading to the town proper opens up into the market district. Narrow streets criss cross just north of the buildings of the Wharf to create a complex maze of hawkers, sellers, merchants, and menders. There are many items you could find here, but not all may be obtainable due to rarity. Some of the major shops of note in the Market District are: There are also a variety of eateries, food carts/stalls, and two major drink makers in the town itself:
