Purpose / Function

The massive series of rings that encompass Mars are multi-purpose. The first ring (of 5) is the largest and acts as a massive automated citadel that houses the majority of the permanent population of the martian rings. The second is devoted to a massive naval academy that trains the Sol Republic elite naval forces and most officers. The third ring is a massive ship foundry, designing and mass producing the Republics most advanced ships. The fourth ring is a massive hydroponics bay that provides food to the tens of millions living on the rings. The fifth and innermost ring relatively small, mostly used for storage, but a small section is a series of labs that analyze samples and send expeditions to the scared surface.

Alterations

The first ring, originally only a residential ring, was retrofitted by Orion Arms to be a formidable citadel, designed to stop enememy fllets before they could reach Earth.

Architecture

The rings are mostly hyper dense steel, able to withstand extreme pressure and temperature.

History

The Rings finished construction on 12/4/2105, and have been making ships and training recruits ever since.
