Werner the Old Shark

Personality:

Pros:

He is a pretty stoic and adventurous person, someone who goes through adversity, seemingly unaffected, in pursuit of adventure and discovery. Werner is a leader at heart and knows how to get the right people on his side, not by tucking at string, unsing bribes or manipulation, but by bringing out the best in people.
Outward he seems cold and uncaring, but can show compassion and care towards his comrades. He is accustomed to sailing, as he did for most of his life, and knows a lot about ships and the ocean, including how to make and control them, and how to survive the wrath of the ocean. Among his other likes are grey whales, tiger sharks and sea crystals.

Cons:

Werner takes the pursuit of adventure, but mainly discovery, to extreme and can't stand even a few days without it. He tries to look strong and healthy, despite his age, which is starting to hinder him, and refuses to acknowledge, or show it to others.
He spends most of his life away from society, which makes him out of touch with the world's people, their lives, laws, culture and traditions. He hates the taste of red meat dislikes most primates, such as orangutans or howler monkeys and has something against whale sharks for being decietful with their appearance.

Motivation:

Werner is fueled by the pursuit of adventure and the need to explore and discover. It's his life's purpose and he can't and won't settle for anything else. There is much out in the world not seen before that might as well never be, and he can't let that happen, not while he still lives.

Backstory:

Werner was born into a fairly regular family. From a young age, his father, a sailor, spoke about his adventures and battles, the days he and his crew fought together against a deadly storm and about all the things he had seen. Werner was amazed by this and wanted to become like his father, it was all he could think and talk about.

At the age of 7, his mother passed away from a disease, and since his father couldn't stay home to take care of him, Werner was taken on board his ship, named after his mother, Johanne. His father took him cross seas and raids with their crew, but Werner wasn't interested is battles, but rather the world around. he was amazed by the strange fish, people, materials or even the white sand of the Crystal sea.

He learned to use weapons, but never got into a fight. He continued to sail with his father until he was 20, when his father was killed in one of the raids. There was nothing binding him home at that point. He was free to to sail with his father's ship, now known as: Old Stingray Johanne into the unknown. And so he did.

Rest of his story, his discoveries, how he got his crew, reaches far beyond what could be writted down as a simple piece of text. Rest of his story deserves more than that.

Pursuit of adventure:

Werner is an old and seasoned sailor and explorer. He isn't written down in history, yet he will be remembered. His adventures with his crew will be sung by musicians, turned into art and play, written down in great stories. He showed thew world what's out there and how much more lies in the depths of the unknown, and continues to do so. He an his crew sail, day and night, across the deepest parts of the Ocean of myths and continue to discover the strange and unknown.

The strange, once unknown:

Werner saw many things in his life, some of which he doesn't speak about. These unclude Flooded city of the Numay and Mika the Tiglamoy. He helped create maps used to this day, which reveal all the islands, strange places and even settlements and travel routes.

The crew:

Werner built up a crew over the years of now seasoned explorers, fighters, sailors, adventurers and many more. They are hailed alongside their captain as one of the greatest heroes of their time. (enter characters here)

Over the 35 years Werner has done a lot. Enough to write stories about his adventures. (I'll add stories once they are written)

Werner is a 55 year old teraany man and a nagataru that belongs to no faction.
He travels the Ocean of myths, with his crew, as a captain and an explorer of the deepest parts of the world.

Description:

Werner is a red-skinned, 175cm tall old man, with an average muscle mass for his age. His body is covered in several scars. His hair and neck-long beard and bushy mustache are dark grey in color and pretty messy. His simillarly grey hair grow down to his chin and are pretty well kept and still stay on his head.
He wears long leather boots, rather plain light brown shirt and pants with a dark brown leather cloak on top, all of which seem to be pretty old and repaired several times.

The legend:

Werner will be remembered as one of the greatest explorers and adventurers in history. While he may not have seen what's beyond the Ocean of myths, or talked to a god-like being. He will always be the remembered as the spark of the age of exploration, the man behind the maps that connect the world, the one who inspire many stories.
