Leathercap

Leathercaps are nightmarish creatures born from the deepest, darkest recesses of a twisted imagination. They are a haunting amalgamation of grotesque features, embodying an eerie fusion of terror and repulsion. Its appearance is a testament to the macabre and surreal.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Leathercaps possess a pair of membranous, flickering wings that seem to pulsate and ripple unnaturally as it hammers through the air. These wings appear as if they were made from layers of raw, fleshy tissue, constantly shifting and writhing. Its upper body resembles a thick, leather-like piece of skin. This skin is a pallid, sickly color, and it is oddly devoid of any discernible texture, making it seem like a grotesque canvas for its other features. The creature's topside is adorned with rows of jet-black, lidless eyes that lead back from along the fore of its manta-like body. These eyes give it a disconcerting and otherworldly appearance. The body extends down into a thorned tail, which resembles the tail of a rat in its shape and size.   It moves with nauseating, erratic movements, almost as if it is constantly convulsing. This unpredictable motion adds to the eerie aura surrounding it. When it takes to the air, the Leathercap emits a keening cry that is unsettlingly human-like in its tone. This cry sends shivers down the spines of those unfortunate enough to hear it, a grim harbinger of the creature's presence. Beneath its manta-like body, the Leathercap sports a gaping, remora-like mouth. The mouth is rimmed with jagged, shark-like teeth that grind together in a frenzy when the creature is agitated or feeding.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The creature will pulsate and undulate during it's feedings, keeping itself in place by its wings, and the tail wrapped around their victims throat. Leathercaps are a relentless predator. It has a peculiar penchant for latching onto the heads of its prey, using its fleshy maw to grasp onto their backs, particularly aiming for the back of their skulls. The sharp, shark-like teeth then begin to dig into the flesh, slowly but inexorably. Its feeding process is excruciatingly painful for its victims, both physically and psychologically, as it bores down into its victims brains with an audible grinding noise, bone scraping away under monstrously powerful teeth, with a vomit-inducing twist of flesh with each grind of its teeth.
