The Azure Sea

The great Azure Sea spans along the southern coast of the known continent providing wealth and life to those that ply its waters. Its name reflects the rich blue waves against the shoreline. However, its clear, tranquil waters belie the dire threats that lurk above and below the waves. Pirate fleets sail brazenly across the waters, and beneath the surface ancient and terrible predators prowl. Many is the tale of the monsters calling the depths their home far too horrifying to even tell naughty children, and make stories of shamble men and vampires look like happy fairy-tales compared with the destruction wrought by these fearsome beasts. Sea Devils, Demon Rays, and Gogglers are child's-play compared to the ghastly morkoth or the unrelenting force of destruction that is a kraken. As if such terrors were not enough, mythic stories are told of even worse, nameless aberrations within the unknown depths of the Azure Sea.

Geography

A large sea bordered on the east and west by the two halves of southern Flanaess continent. The Pomarj provides its northern shore and the Olman Islands the southern edge. The sea connects into other bodies of water with Jekland Bay south of the Hold of the Sea Princes, the Densac Gulf south of the Olman Islands, and the Sea of Gearnat to the north.   Furthermore, the Sea of Gearnat provides access to western interior countries through Woolly Bay and the Selican River and the eastern interior countries through Relmor Bay and the Harp River. These connections make the Azure Sea

Ecosystem Cycles

Winds cross the Azure Sea from west toward the east.    During the winter months, Sunsebb and Fireseek, these winds are turbulent due to the warmer weather from the Sea of Dust and Pearl Sea buffeting against the cold weather of the Flanaess.   During the high summer months, Reaping through Harvester, tropical storms brew near the Hold of the Sea Princes and smash against the far shores of Idee.   During spring, fall, and low summer, winds are typically steady and rarely more than brisk. Providing almost ideal weather for sailing ships.
