John Lahey
John Lahey was the father of Isaac Lahey and Camden Lahey, and (secretly) the biological father of Jackson Whittemore.
His primary employment was as a gravedigger at Beacon Hills Cemetary, but in 1993 he took a part-time possition as the coach of the BHH Swim Team. While working at the school, he met Margaret Miller, an English teacher, and the two began an affair.
Margaret eventually fell pregnant with his child. Initially, she planned to pass the baby off as her husband's, but when Gordon grew suspicious, she informed John that she was going to come clean about the affair. Fearing this would result in his own marriage ending in divorce, he sabotaged Margaret's car, resulting in a fatal car accident (although Jackson was born by caesarian section after his mother's death, and survived).
In 1998, his wife died of lukemia, leaving him to raise their two sons alone.
During a party he threw to celebrate the swim team's victory in the 2006 state championships, one of the team threw the ten-year-old Matt Daehler into the Lahey's pool. John was able to ressucitate Matt using CPR, but rather than risk a scandal, he threatened Matt to keep him quiet.
He was fired from his job as swim coach shortly thereafter, due to his reputation for allowing the team to drink and take drugs.
In 2008, his eldest son Camden was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. This, combined with the loss of his possition as coach, caused a serious deteriation in his mental health. Already a controlling and emotionally abusive father, he became physically violent, and began punishing Isaac for percieved wrong-doing by locking him in an unplugged freezer in the basement.
He was murdered in 2011 by the Kanima, due to his part in the death of the Millers. This lead Matt believe that he had actually become the Kanima-Master before meeting the kanima for the first time, although in reality, John's was the only murder committed by Jackson alone without Matt's influence.
