Kūko

Kūko, or sky foxes, are the fifth and final rank of kitsune.

Although the rank follows Tenko, it does not outrank them, as kūko is the rank attained by Tenko who are too old to continue to serve the gods. It is usually attained at around 2,000 years of age.

Upon reaching the rank of kūko, a kitsune may choose to remain in the spirit realm, or they may choose to create a body for themselves to inhabit on earth, but once the choice is made, it cannot be reversed. Kūko are less powerful than Tenko, closer in magical power to a Kiko or even Chiko kitsune, but they have thousands of years of knowledge and cunning on their side.
