We Hunt Those Who Hunt Us

The Code is a set of rules governing the actions of Hunter Clans, most often expressed as "we hunt those who hunt us". The rules are intended to ensure hunters kill only those who pose a serious threat to innocent life.

The rules include not killing humans, not harming children of any species, and not hunting supernatural creatures who have never spilled human blood.

The Code also dictates how Hunters interact with other hunters, most significantly the requirement that no hunter can be allowed to turn into a supernatural creature. A hunter who is bitten is expected to take their own life before the transformation completes, and if they refuse or unable to, it is the responsibility of other members of their Clan to kill them.

Since Allison Argent became the Argent Matriarch, she has changed the Clan's code to one expresses as "we protect those who cannot protect themselves", but this has not been adopted by other Clans.
