Nations
The four major nations of the world are described in detail in the following sections, but a quick overview of them is presented here.
Ogygia
Ogygia is a nation of constantly boiling tensions. Humanoids war with one another over territory, fae-like nymphs watch anxiously over their wildernesses, and below it all, monstrosities loom in the oceans and dark swamps. It is a land where heroes, tyrants, and mercenaries are made; where the forest and the sea claim defenders by grace or force; where there is always a need for determined individuals. Nowhere is truly safe, and loyalties can shift like the tides.
Ithara
Ithara is a steadfast, collaborative nation, built out of necessity to survive. Magical aether twists the desert landscape and the life within it, but also fuels the inventions of Itharan artificers. The great cities of the Merchant Kings stand proud on the corpses of countless previous kingdoms swallowed by the sands, and the many beastfolk strive to find a home in the harsh desert.
Tron Daurat
Tron Daurat is the (supposed) cradle of life and the ancestral home of the elves, who once lived prosperous lives isolated from other humanoids. Their utopia was broken by a demonic incursion, one brought on by the elves’ own emperor. Now the elves struggle to hold back a tide of horrors as endless night spreads across Tron Daurat.
Azuma
Azuma is a relatively small island nation, split into four allied regions and overseen by the celestial kitsune. While the kitsune serve as protectors of humanity against malevolent yokai, tensions between the four human shogunates have begun to simmer, and both their alliance and the kitsune’s protection may begin to fray.
The Borderlands
Between the nations of the main continent lie stretches of land unclaimed by any larger government, yet touched by the differing powers flanking them. Warlords, nymphs, artificers, elves, and yokai have no sway in these lands between, but far from being savage, they are home to unique life and civilizations all their own. The Chikan Jungle, the Hecaton Range, and the Peaks of Azul collectively form these mysterious borderlands.
