Sobekites

Overview

The Turquoise Serpent is an incredibly valuable asset, and sobekites trace their lineage to a fierce deity, Sobek, who kept the river safe from all manner of corruption and created them to act as his avatars. In the modern era, sobekite communities continue this work of protection in bodies of water across Ithara, emphasized by their shield-based fighting styles and curse-deflecting trinkets. Despite originating from predators, sobekite communities are extremely welcoming to non-sobekites of all kinds, and many Itharan paladins have emerged from these communities.
When their homes or allies are threatened, sobekite warriors become terrifying foes, fighting until their enemies retreat or one side finally dies. In an effort to dissuade their aggressors, sobekites have developed a unique war-song, derived from the earth-shaking rumbling of their crocodilian ancestors. The deep tones of their growls carry through earth and water for miles, felt as much as they are heard. A band of sobekites can alternate their growls to create an unceasing quake, which is often more than enough to dissuade all but the most bloodthirsty of aggressors.
