Zealiya

History

The early history of Zealiya is quite similar to that of Zolot. Rulers would rise and fall, some unifying the land for a while, as the power of regional warlords waned and waxed. But once, the new king of the most powerful kingdom, Vyth, decided to end the cycle of blood. He declared that once he unifies all of Zealiya, all rulers of the land would forfeit their power, from the farm owner to the warlords. And eventually, he himself would forfeit his position as king. Though the son of the last king, his mother was a worker, and not of any dynasty. As a result, his three brothers opposed his claim to the throne, also claiming that his plan is to absorb the power of the regional warlords and become the absolute ruler of Zealiya rather than establishing lasting peace. To much surprise, Vyth had them all killed, and would continue to conquer kingdom after kingdom. He amassed a gigantic army of over 200,000 soldiers, and thousandths of dinosaurs. Vyth's vision proved to be perhaps too ambitious. After he died, his son was overthrown by Othokent, a lizardman of noble birth. An early empire of Kabir was at Zealiya, but Othokent paid them 500 dinosaurs to leave so he can have Zealiya for himself. He conquered the West, and Vyth's kingdom in the East fractured into several kingdoms, one of which was still controlled was Vyth's son, and by far the most powerful. After Othokent's death, his son would take over, conquering the Eastern kingdoms and almost all of Zealiya, still avoiding Vyth's kingdom as it was too powerful and easy to defend. With Vyth's kingdom now his only enemy, Othokent's son amassed a massive army, and attacked. In a short and bloody war, over 100,000 soldiers would die on both sides. Othokent's son realized the destructive nature of war, and went back and improved on the ideology of Vyth. According to him, the gods give us power in terms of food, metals, and land, but to finally achieve balance all must forfeit power, only keeping what they need to survive. Farmers would now gift surplus food, blacksmiths would gift all metal, and Othokent's son, now king of Zealiya, would gift all land to its people. And so, two major parts of the same religion were born. Some followers believe that according to Vyth's initial idea, power can be used if it is used to maintain peace. Other followers believe Othokent's idea, that all power one does not need to survive biologically must be forfeited.   a particular group of Vyth followers have basically become elite warriors to guard their ideals kind of like shaolin monks if that makes sense you would probably be killed on the spot of one is around, otherwise they will capture you and await a Vyth warrior to come and execute you when you are executed for such causes, your body is then burned, and your executioner must hide your bones. he could drop them into a waterfall, bury them, etc... but the point of that ritual is that he is ashamed and sorry that a fellow lizardman could not follow peace usually the bones would be painted on or even made into small statues before they are buried   The tail (the holiest part of the lizard according to them) is buried under a stone slab, and the body is left on top. As a part of forfeiting all power, the dead lizardfolk gifts her own body to the animals and elements. When only bones remain, they are painted or made into figurines that depict the lizardfolk's life, before being buried with the tail under the slab. that is the fate that all religious lizardfolk strive for, to die after giving all possible in life, and then give all possible in death   Non-lizardfolk are called Jaxona.
