Imperium of Midgard
The Imperium of Midgard brings peace where there was war, industry and progress where there was stagnation and order where there was chaos. Through Sacrifice, Unity is brought to the Universe.
Sacred Animal:
The Duplex Aquilae
Dominion, Power, & SupremacyThe Sacred Animal of the Imperium is a golden two-headed Eagle, otherwise known as the Duplex Aquilae. On Imperial Ships and flags, it is usually depicted holding a sword in its right claw and a captured serpent in its left claw. A golden triquetra sits above its head and the two heads watch for an attack from either side.
The two heads watching for an attack are meant to represent the Imperium's watchful eye of both the 1st and 2nd Kingdom, as both would seek to tear down what the Empire has built. The sword is meant to represent the willingness to go to arms against any opponent and the captured serpent symbolizes their ability to overcome any enemy and make them submit, else they taste the steel of the blade. The triquetra represents unity and cohesion between all the people of the Imperium.
The Duplex Aquilae is an exceptionally rare creature to come upon, one that only exists natively in Midgard. To see one appear before a battle or ordeal is a sign from the Old Ones that fortune is on their side. The Temple has made it illegal to hunt or kill these sacred beasts and only the highest Imperials can afford to have one has a pet.
Structure
Nobility | Clergy | Warrior |
The Nobility Class of Citizens is any persons/ parties who belong to one of the Great Magical Houses, Planetary Nobility, or the Royal Lineage itself. | This Class is reserved for Citizens who are devoted followers of their Imperial God and directly serve the Pope. | The Warrior Class is for Citizens who serve in the armed forces of the Imperium, Houses, or the Temple. They serve the People of the Empire. |
A Brief Overview of Imperial Structure
A general overview of the structure of the Imperium of Midgard, refer to the respective articles for more information.
The highest seat in the Imperium was the Throne of Midgard, which was controlled by House Major-Saturninus. The Imperium was a Monarchy and its first Empress was Umbria the Unifier. House Major-Saturninus is the Royal Lineage and only members from this Clan are allowed to sit on the throne unless their Right to Rule is questioned by the Church.
---
Beneath the throne is the Church, the Temple of Wicidon, and the Great Magical Houses. The Temple is almost equal in power to the Empress but pertains primarily to religious matters. The Great Magical Houses, otherwise known as the Magicas Domos, are 33 Clans of exceptionally powerful Mage families who have sworn loyalty to the Empress. They act as her lesser royalty and can be appointed to rule over entire sectors of the Imperium, they are also a failsafe in the event the Temple turns on the Empress.
---
Next are the various companies and industries that the Imperium employs to maintain order and control. Two of the most prominent are the Undurkar Shipping Union (USU) and the Midgard Bank & Trust Company (MB&T). The Union is used to ship large amounts of vast resources across the Imperium but only operates on routes that succeed a certain amount of Lightyears, lower than this threshold and it is handled by other private companies. This ensures they do not have a monopoly on trade and can never use their power to leverage against the Empress.
---
The Banking Company is the biggest banking and finance company in the Imperium, used by most Citizens, however, their biggest competition is the Interstellar Royal Bank (IRB) which the Great Magical Houses and Royal Lineage uses.
---
Next is the armed forces, the Honor Guard, and the Imperial Legion. The Honor Guard is used as an Executive body, patroling worlds and systems to uphold the law while the Imperial Legion is the armed military might of the IOM. Legoniares are split into the ARMY and the NAVY, led by a 5-Star General & a Fleet Admiral respectively.
Culture
For eons, Midgard was in constant war and chaos, not only with itself but with the Legions of Angels and Hordes of Demons who invaded their Kingdom. Of all the Great Multiversal Wars, Midgard never stood a chance and was endlessly slaughtered. That is, until the 4th Great Multiversal War when the Imperium came into power and made Mortals a force to be reckoned with.
This was only able to happen through Her Brilliance, Umbria of House Major-Saturninus, and the woman who would become the Empress of Midgard. Umbria united the Universe and with the might of the Temple of Wicidon, ushered in a new golden age. She preached teachings of unity and cohesion, no matter the cost. Divided they would fall but together, none could oppose them.
Imperial Citizens adopted this mentality, this culture, one that aims to uplift and bring each other to Enlightenment. This is only boosted by their religion, Wicism, which sees them worship the Old Ones who represent the old ways of unity and progress through each other.
Military
The Royal Guard & Imperial Legion
the Imperial Legion is the armed forces of the Imperium. Unlike the Imperial Guard, the Legion drafts a certain number of troops from every single world to be placed in the Army or Navy. They are split into over 900+ Legions stationed across the Empire fighting Outlaws, Angels, Demons, and any other foe or monster who would dare oppose Her Majesty's Will.
Their sister branch is the Royal Guard, troopers reserved for the Nobility Class and the Royal Family. They are selected from the Honor Guard and can be seen stationed on Worlds with importance to the Nobility or engaging in political battles between houses. They are the closest Guard to the Empress and her Kin and are sworn to the utmost secrecy and discipline.
Religion
The Offical religion of the Empire is Wicism, the practice of worshiping the Old Ones, celestials who ruled once long before the Kingdoms of Man, God, or Demon. This religion is headed by the Temple of Wicidon led by its Pope. The Temple is officially recognized by the Empress and even employs its own military force, the Knights Templar, who served to maintain the Word of Wicism and root out hersery.
Trade & Transport
Undurkar Shipping Union
The Empire employs the Undurkar Shipping Union to move goods & materials throughout member words and systems. The Union is typically only used to manage Trade across vast distances in the Imperium, otherwise, other private companies usually handle the movement of goods within a local circuit. The Union is paramount to ensuring vital resources are delivered to and from Capital worlds and without their massive Haulers, commerce within the Empire would surely suffer. They have an exclusive contract with the IOM but offer their services at a higher inflation rate to other parties willing to pay.
Education
Education is standardized across the Imperium on all worlds to ensure the general intelligence of citizens is above a certain threshold. When a World enters the Imperium, after evaluation, a number of Basic & Secondary Education centers are issued based on planet population density and terrain. Children are required by Imperial Decree to attend Basic School and can apply to a Secondary School to obtain their Educationem Visa, a certificate which certifies they completed both Basic and Secondary schooling. This is needed as almost every job or profession in the Empire requires its employees have an Educationem Visa. And jobs that do not require it are low-level and dead-ends.
Basic is an equivalent of Elementary/ Middle School where the basics of intelligence are fostered and honed, one does not need to apply but merely show up and education shall be provided. Secondary is similar to High School/ College and will need to be applied to, it prepares Citizens for life in the Empire as an adult and most Commercial and Citizen types of professions can be accomplished after this is finished. Specialists are schools where students are trained and taught to fulfill a certain role or profession, like a Pilot's school or an Engineer's College. They too must be applied to but are shorter than Secondary.
Some example schools are;
- Royal Airmen Academy (RAA)
- Imperial College of Higher Education (ICHE)

Currency
The Offical Currency of the Imperium was the Imperial Hosar ∐ (IH) and was standardized across all controlled sectors and zones. Because the Imperium controlled a vast amount of the 3rd Kingdom, it was commonly used in even places they did not directly control. The Imperium itself did not employ the Hosar itself until it had integrated the Midgard Bank & Trust Company, which sought to standardize trade in Midgard.
Legislative Body
Congressus Mundi
The Congressus is responsible for the making of legislation within the Empire and is made up of four branches;
- The Imperial Senate
- The Council of Delegates
- Magicas Domos
- General Assembly
Judicial Body
Her Majesty's Royal Court acts as the highest body of Judicial power within the Imperium, followed by a series of Greater Courts & Lesser Courts which tend to local and foreign matters accordingly.
Executive Body
The Imperial Guard is the armed policing body responsible for enforcing the laws of the Empire on all controlled worlds, systems, and locations. Each World in the Imperium is evaluated based on location and assets and assigned a minimum number of Imperial Guards that must be stationed on the said world at any given time. However, outside of this rule and a few universal guidelines, each Company of Imperial Guards is different from each other based on domestic needs and environments, led by a Guardmaster. The Imperial Guard can police any location within their jurisdiction, make arrests, and maintain order.

Begrudgingly Co-Existing
The IOM and the KIO have not been sworn enemies but have been known to have particularly violent meetings in the past. The Imperium recognizes the power and threat of the Order but openly rejects the pacifist-like nature. The Order recognizes the need for the Imperium in Midgard but fundamentally disagrees with a number of their methods and doctrines.
