Serra's Landing

Serra's Landing is an ancient city in Serra, old enough to have witnessed one of the most significant events in Wyndelkyndian History, when Serra came from Khaletza after her vision with her army and began her conquest of The Mantaritaray Empire which buckled under the weight of conflict both internal and external as well as the terrible disease that was ravaging Taratayl at the time.   History   before Serra's Landing was founded, Ankarit tribal communities were present, dominated by their Mantarit rulers. The Serran Invasion lead to the expulsion of the Mantarit and the integration of Ankaritaray whose culture were closely related to the Khaletzaic lead to a loyal native population. This would eventually lead to the historical distiction between Khaletzaic Serrans and Ankaritaray Serrans where Khaletzaics are composed of the original Khaletzans and Ankarit assimilants while the Ankaritaray in South East Serra were not assimilated.   While the Serrans did still practise slavery, they did not practice human sacrifice, prefering animal sacrifice, which appealed to many of the peoples conquered by the Serrans from the Mantarit. the promise of freedom from sacrifice lead to mass magration from many corners of Tartayl, burgeoning the city's population. But for all these promises, there were many new restrictions. The strangest change migrants had to adjust to was matriarchy. there were many who failed to adjust either men who were angered by the reversal of the pariarchal values they understood under the Mantarit or women who rejected their new expectations. Some of the earliest egalitarian movements in the city also appeared who wanted to find the mean between the two systems. Ultimately however these groups failed to achieve political efficacy due to the strength of the messiannic cult built around Serra, the matriarch of the city and Empress of the Serran Empire.   This system remained fairly rigid until the death of Serra in 5,2,5,33:1 and the succession crisis occured. Serra had no children, theories range from impotence to adherence to absolute chastity or potentially even being secretly asexual. But her closest advisors and stateswomen started to squabble over the fate of The Titles of Representative of Faeriel and Empress. As well as differing religious views. There were those who interpreted her writings and concluded that Serra joined Faeriel in the sky to become Saeriel, a unified being composed of two immortal halves, while others rejected this. Some wanted to claim these titles for themselves while others believed devolving religious leadership into a clergy. The philosophy of Saerism and Clerical leadership emerged victorious. Sister Zemicha Requcalice, a power-hungry preistess who sought to claim her position after Serra's death. There was significant support for her to do so, but after her assertion of power and the outbreak of The Serran Civil War, her reign was cut short by a group known as the "Heroes of Serra" who participated in the push for The Palatial Pyramid and infiltrated and assassinated Zemicha. Her death effectively lead to the end of her movement and the civil war was resolved after 2 years. Some of the Heroes of Serra were made members of the clergy after the war and played a significant role in shaping the Church of Saeriel.   Today it is best known for it's temples, many of which were built after the passing of Serra and her ascension to Godhood. It serves as the Capital of The Serran Continental Confederation, one of the seven Continental Confederations that make up the unified planetary government of Wyndelkynd. The Palatial Pyramid of The Serran Ilat is also located here.
