Captain Jera Martell (a.k.a. Husband of the Seasqueen)
Jera Martell is the fourth born to Euka and Gera Martell, the first born after the establishment of Martell Shipping and Transport, and the only born at sea. He was born a month early, and his parents feared he would not live to his Presentation Day.
At eighteen, an accident at sea during a storm sent him overboard, where he was attacked by a shark. Though he was rescued, the muscles of his right arm were torn mangled, barely attached to the bone. Jera was told he would never have use of his arm again, and the healer on board advised amputation, warning of infection. Jera refused amputation, only allowing the doctor to do what he must to stave off blood loss.
Miraculously, Jera survived the journey home, and though he has extremely limited use of his right hand, Jera works diligently to learn to do everything with his left that he could once to with his right.
Because of his birth and near death at see, his brothers often tease him of a perceived relationship with Decoure, calling him "Husband of the Seasqueen."

Identifying Characteristics
Jera notably stands out from his brothers due to the scarred mess of a right arm. Large parts of his bicep and forearm are missing, replaced with pink scar tissue.
Relationships
Once a confident and capable captain, after an accident at sea, Jera is wracked with self doubt. Jera tends to get annoyed by the sympathy given to his by his family, seeing it as pity. He wants a chance to prove himself despite his disability.
