Texts of Old

"There were no witnesses to what was about to happen. "Happen" didn't exist; Reality was timeless, permanence. Space didn't exist. The distance between two points was immeasurable. The points themselves could be here or anywhere, hovering and bouncing. Infinity tangled into itself. Suddenly, a trembling a vibration an ordering began. Like roiling waves, space shuddered and swelled."
- Archivist Marcelo Glasier
The story of creation varies through time and through the people who retell the tale. No text of that era, if created, has lasted to be read by eyes that remained on the planes.
The caretakers of the Blue Visage Iounaeum in Novokudrov hold the Texts of Old, or the Askia Scrolls, the oldest documents found on the prime material plane. Originally held in Pons Seravi , religious scholars from across the world have come to study and interpret the texts, allowing the Askia Creation Mythos to be pulled together by multiple accounts.
The modern assembly of many years of interpretations was written by Archivist Marcelo Glasier. The highly popular debut of the scholar Ilyana Manne was a direct dispute against the translations of Glasier. Ranging in the severity of rebuttal from accusing Glasier of utilizing titles and names to an unidentifiable degree, to stating that his interpretation of the origin of Magic is completely incorrect.

Summary

Archivist Marcelo Glasier's account and summary:
The splitting of the negative and positive came first from the emptiness of the beginning. There were no witnesses to what was about to happen. "Happen" didn't exist; Reality was timeless, permanence. Space didn't exist. The distance between two points was immeasurable. The points themselves could be here or anywhere, hovering and bouncing. Infinity tangled into itself. Suddenly, a trembling vibration and ordering began. Like roiling waves, space shuddered and swelled. The Negative and the Positive pushed against each other and pulled against themselves. The force of chaos that was created from the ebb and flow between Positive and Negative generated everything. Ideas were created and from them, planes of existence were pulled and weaved from the energy. With the dust of the planes and the chaos roiling, ideas concentrated into entities. From Nothing and Something. From Light and from Dark.
The Nothing and The Something merged and separated constantly while the twins of The light and The Dark fought.
They were equals and the mists of their harmony brought forth dichotomies. Ideas and feelings of murder and love, warmth and chill, empty and full. Magic formed in the mists. The Nothing and the Something's dance of power formed the tumble of chaos, though it seemed to follow small patterns, small defects that allowed the planes that we know to form from during their separation. The ground and the skies, the planets and the stars, the emptiness between the solids places.
From the settling over time ideas solidified. Entities became of the settling mists. The first three started something great in the void and the material, in the light as well as in the dark. They took control of names. With Brina, life was brought forth to the planes. Vessels of the souls that were created by will.
With Istus, time began to flow; fate was woven in threads of ether, and granted the first thoughts to the beings placed by their other.
With the Queen, whose name was lost, balance began to hold meaning to the entities that swirled into being. Between the planes and their entities, a carrier was gifted to return those to where they are meant to lie.
The planes formed with life placed to their ancient lands. Primordials rose from the condensing elements, searching for the power that the entities held. During the first true fighting, magic was infused into the land of the planes itself, allowing it to flower into its own organism, its own system. Fiends, devils, demons, some would call terrible abominations of Life's gifts, were born, dragons and beings of power took on the realms, and divine entities continued to arise with the power over their domains. Each learning their own part of creation.
The fighting between the twins of lightness and darkness strengthened as the early planar beings chose sides to support. Taking names, Selune and Shar, the final push was made and Lightness was shattered. Tipped into unbalance, the planes spiraled, elements merged together in areas, and the barriers between planes became thin and passable. Darkness was not allowed to rein. Though shattered, Light was reborn once more in twos, as Light and Dark were. The twins formed the sun and the moon, each bringing their own type of light to the world. Together, their power rivaled Darkness perfectly once again. With balance wrought, the planes righted, but their trajectories remained tilted, allowing passage between the planes if one dared the void. The Nothing and the Something continued their dance of balance. Fating the world to a constant state of change.
With the most destructive of elemental primordials imprisoned or weakened as the worlds became more diverse and their power scattered, deities were created and died. Life was allowed to flourish in the new lands that were created from the chaos. The plane that held the most innate magic as the point of the Original Movement, the most diverse landscape and peoples, became considered the central plane. Many titled it The Prime Material Plane.
Life was difficult in the beginning. It marked the Dawn Age. The beginning of it all, and all that comes.

Variations & Mutation

The Nothing and its combination with The Something, that Marcelo Glasier mentions is highly disputed across the world. Translations of the Texts of Old can be related to what is called The Nothing, to simply void. It is argued if a divine stature of nothing can exist, while others believe that our modern conception of "nothing" is not void at all, but a type of substance that is not perceivable.

The famous scholar and archivist Ilyana Manne directly challenged Marcelo Glasier's translation and interpretation. They publicly state that Glasier's translation miscalculates the origin of magic as a mist of violence. Their interpretations state that magic actually existed before it all. It was the catalyst that allowed the explosion of the planes and the split between positive and negative in the first place. Manne describes their take on the Texts as a fable rather than an explaination. Where, Glasier's Nothing and Something, do not hold domain over all that is and isn't, but rather are personifications of the natural magic of the universe forming the lands and all that in between.
