Long Patrol

In the north-eastern corner of Omiralon, the Long Patrol is highly regarded as one of, if not the most skilled fighting companies ever known. Since 549 AO, the company has recruited the most resourceful scouts and bowmen on the continent into their ranks. Strictly limited to 333 individuals, simply being sought out by the group is an honor, and an induction into the patrol is to enter fellowship with the continent's elite. The group's focus Is primarily long-ranging missions in which intelligent planning and discretion is required, though individual "Sentinels", or groups of 3 individuals assigned from induction, have been well-known to offer services to the settlement in which they happen to be posted between assignments. Remarkably secular, each member of the Long Patrol is welcome to believe in any deity they wish, if that is their desire, so long as the needs of the Patrol are given priority.

Structure

The Long Patrol is made up of 333 members. Each member, upon induction, is assigned into a Sentinel, a unit of 3 members that operate together for the remainder of their time within the Patrol. 3 Sentinels (typically the most-veteran) are elected via a vote every 3 years. These Sentinel groups are tasked with overseeing the operations of a Garrison, or 36 of the remaining Sentinels.

Public Agenda

Initially, the Long Patrol was formed as a joint venture between the then-fledgling Commonwealth of Free Cities, notably Ould Barir  and the freshly established Tidesrest, to create a group of protectors for travelers between the cities. As the roads between the settlements became more traveled, the group split off from their establishment roots, desiring to offer services to the public, rather than only the commonwealth directed efforts. As a result, while their services come for a price, they are seen as a philanthropic organization, able to complete requests other organizations wouldn't accept - an image the organization proudly fosters.
