Pheoluk

Associated Schools of Magic

Evocation

The school of Evocation focuses on unleashing magical energy, often in an elemental form, upon their enemies. "War Mages" often have at least a strong understanding, if not a mastery, of this school.

Enchantment

The school of Enchantment focuses on altering the mental state of the target, whether for positive or negative purposes. A successful Enchantment spell cast on a target will manipulate them into behaving contrary to how they might otherwise.

Necromancy

The school of Necromancy focuses on the ebb and flow of the fabric of magic and life itself through a target. Often seen as a dark or evil practice, Necromancy also allows the practitioner to heal, and as a result, is also favored of War Mages.

Divine Domains

Darkness

Pheoluk's association with darkness, whether due to his association with the dark moon Piris or his governance over the Evocation school of magic, is often his follower's most treasured facet. Among the mages of the Academy, the order of black-robed mages are noted as being secretive and evasive. Despite this often exaggerated stereotype, some of the greatest healers in the history of Omiralon have followed Pheoluk and taken the Black Robes.

War

As the patron Arcane of War mages, Pheoluk's image has been evolving over many centuries. Where he was once seen as the "one that hides in the dark", within the Age of Order, he has been depicted as a powerful Evoker. More than the other two Arcanes, even within the Academy, Pheoluk is seen as a potentially dangerous deity to follow. Only the strongest willed mages are seen to be able to withstand the worship of Pheoluk, and the teachings within this aspect are likely to blame.

Holidays

Twilight's Repose is a commemorative day, known only to vaguely by those outside the Order of the Black Robes. Observed over the evening of every new moon of Piris, the time is rumored to include a ritual in which the mages sacrifice parts of their own essence to Pheoluk. Whether true or not, black-robed mages have been confirmed to have incurred regular wounds with the cadence of Piris' cycle, but the true reason for them is unknown, as is how widespread the practice and observance of the day itself is.

One of Three

The deities of magic, known as the "Arcanes" are worshipped nearly exclusively by mages. Protectors of the fabric of magic in Omiralon, the Arcanes work together, despite their opposing teachings, to maintain the balance of magic. Even the youngest of the students at The Academy are taught to respect each of the three no matter which, if any, they choose to follow. In the ancient tales, they often work together, by the request of Qhiriles, as the arbiters between the gods. They are respected, even between the Immortals, as being impartial judges.
