The Northern World

For the myths related to The Northern World, see The Cavern Of The North & The Northern World.
The Northern World (German: 'Die Nördliche Welt') is the home of the Hyperborean, a large group of humans whom have been magically mutated by an intense amount of Mana and Edenite that is found within a cavern within the northern part of what used to be Siberia, specifically in West Asia. The people within this land worship an altered form of the Greek Mythology, of which revolves around the seven High Gods and Goddesses, the god Hades, and the lost land of Elysium.

Geography

The Northern World can be best described as strange. When one enters the Northern World through The Cavern Of The North, gravity begins to shift. Taking on the landscape of an inverted Earth, The Northern World best resembles the old myths describing a Hollow Earth, where it's a massive concave shape. With various plant-life that has never been seen on the surface for decades and a warm; humid atmosphere, there is a variety of strange and mystical life located down in the Northern World. Connected to The Northern World is hundreds of caverns that branch off into their own smaller areas, each following the same, bizarre gravity located throughout the Northern World.

The trees located within The Northern World are massive, reaching up several miles feet high. Any lakes located in The Northern World will act as they would on the surface, with humidity releasing vapor up into the air and creating precipation; often resulting in the occasional rain. Within the center of The Northern World, however, is the very source of the world's light and heat: The Golden Sun. The Golden Sun has been speculated to be the source of not only the light within The Northern World, but the odd effects of gravity within it.

Throughout The Northern World are massive spires of Edenite reaching up into the sky. As a result of these spires and the Golden Sun, there is a massive amount of Mana within the air, which has helped alter and mutate the various creatures and flora throughout the area.

History

On July 24th, 1915; after the onset of World War I, A German soldier known as Luis Metzinger began to develop a desire to bring a large group of people to Siberia after being exposed to The Cavern Of The North during a military expedition in search of rare and new materials and artifacts for use in the war effort. While a few mocked him and called his potential expedition suicidal; he managed to convince a large group to come with him after the war ended thanks to promises of riches from what could potentially be a discovery of a lifetime.

The first people that would end up in The Northern World, including Luis, would arrive on Feburary 20th, 1919. While there, they would take refuge in the cavern, going deeper into it until they found the massive cavern filled with bizarre, lush greenery and wildlife; hidden underneath the frozen land above. These people would make the cavern their home, building shelter amongst the trees and stone; creating various structures to survive within. As they lived there and brought more people over to The Northern World, two important things would begin to happen:

  1. Luis, whom had a prior fascination with Greek Mythology, would become enamored with the various artifacts that were discovered throughout the area, claiming that they showed him things of a world long gone. Those who read the same artifacts would find and see the same things he did, with those in the area quickly falling under a belief that The Northern World was formed by ancient greek gods and goddesses, all of whom survived an apopcalyptic event started by Hades that destroyed their home of Olympus and the afterlife of Elysium.
  2. All those who lived in the area would slowly become transformed by the heavy abdundance of magic and Edenite in the area. Any humans born in the caverns would begin to grow Edenite out from specific points on their body, such as the back; scalp; and chest. Currently living humans would begin to grow strange Edenite protrusions as well after a few years, gaining immense strength and forming a connection with nature itself. These humans would begin to call themselves the Hyperborean.
To this day, the Hyperborean have lived peacefully, spreading the word of their alternate version of Greek mythology across the world; sharing the various goods, tools and crops that were made around. Even after the occurence of The Withering, they've managed to survive fairly well. Unfortunately, many of the artifacts they had were lost, and some fear that the Golden Sun is starting to lose it's energy after sustaining a fair bit of damage itself. Combine that with it becoming harder to reach those in The Northern World, some have doubts as to whether or not they will survive the next few years, though they're certainly going to try.
