Arcanist

After The Bloom occured and magic became a commonly accepted thing, you suddenly had all these people looking at it with interest. Much like how scientists began to poke and prod at things, you had these people calling themselves Arcanists deciding, hey, let's mess around with Mana. Next thing you know, there's all sorts of jobs and such for people that want to experiment with magic.
A Subjective View On Mana

An Arcanist is a broad term for people whom dabble in the field of magic, Mana and Edenite. Whether they're hobbists, researchers, or people whom have taken up a job using their magic for poeple, Arcanists have become a massive field with the onset of The Bloom.

Career

Qualifications

Generally, anyone with the drive and knowhow can learn how to become a Arcanist. It generally depends on what field of magic you research, how prepared you are, and whether or not you decide to learn it on your own time or participate in a school for it. Depending on who you ask, it also depends on if you are a careful person, as making use of Mana can be rather dangerous to those whom are not careful.

Career Progression

Generally, when one begins practicing the art of magic, it's often recommended to start with the basics, such as small-scale illusions, healing spells and such. As you gradually grow into bigger and bigger fields with the magic, some people will often at this point become one of two things: A jack of all trades kind've person or a specific role that they feel interested in or feel comfortable with being able to do.

Perception

Social Status

Initially, Arcanists were seen as either people to be feared or people whom should be looked down upon. This would not last, however, as Arcanists would quickly take the world by storm with the possibilities that can be taken with magic. Nowadays, especially after The Withering, Arcanists are seen as an important necessity in life, often being hired on the spot in some cases for certain jobs.

Operations

Dangers & Hazards

Needless to say, alongside the risk of accidently injuring one's self when using certain kinds of magic, including those that fall under elemental magic; a big risk of a beginner entering the world of magic is Mana Overexposure Disorder. While there is a two-in-three chance of surviving the disorder, it's often suggested that people do not put themselves through it.
