Old Sycamore

A noble patriarch of the tree world, the Old Sycamore can be seen from miles around. No other sycamore in the area has grown as high, and the reason this one in particular reached its enormous size remains a mystery to the locals.

on the west bank of the Shrike River just before it meets the foamy waters of river Thorn there is an ancient and thick forest known to the locals as Serpent Tower Forest. The forest's trees are known for their gray green leaves that although fresh to the touch from a distance they look like wuthering. In the middle of this strange forest covered by a thich layer of mist and the smell of decomposing foliage and most there is a tree. A tree that towers above all others, so high that it can be seen from kilometers away, and to the untrained eye this tree looks like a hill full of bright green trees in the middle of the wuthered forest. This ancient tree is called the Old Sycamore. It stands 45 meters high (as tall as a 15 story tower) and its thick canopy and foliage cover an area twice as that, enough to shade not one, but 6 castles under it.

The Old sycamore extends its roots all across the forest and you can see those roots branching and extending into the hills ot hte west and in and under the river to the east. Some say that all the trees of the forest are actually suckers of the old sycamore in its center.

Nobody really knows what caused the sycamore to grow in such massive proportions, but many who visited assume that has to do with the ancient ruins on its shade the pepper the landscape around it and the mines the blue kobold Clan Sootscale found and has borrowed even deep under them.
