Chorta
Chorta is a village with a sprinkling of clay and metal homes which are decorated in colored clay exteriors, chalk mandalas, and tapestries. Small clusters of these homes sprinkle the hills where there is enough flat land or stable hills to build on or into. The town is run by committee and looks forward both to the annual Ash festival and event, where the nearby active volcano spews ash all across the valley that is vital for the growth of Chorta's largest export: Dye.
After the Ashfall, the Chortans sweep the ash into the fields to fertilize their flower crops. The extra acidity produces the brightest colors in the known world, and come the following autumn they are harvested and dried throughout the winter. It isn't until late winter when snow reaches the valley that they begin making the dyes. Travelers must wait until thaw to traverse the mountain paths and tunnels to try to reach chorta. Or they must attempt by boat. Both ways are fraught with peril as the mountains frequently destroy or cover roads with snow and rockslides, and the ever-shifting sands in the seas between proving difficult to navigate in the murky waters.
Government
Lead by the Vibrant Council which in turn is made up of the heads of each of the Vibrant Families. All major changes go through the committee and tasks are assigned based on the knowledge and size of other working families. Each family has a job in running the village. Some families share jobs. Every few years jobs are moved around to keep things fair and to keep families humble.
Defences
Surrounded by naturally inhospitable landscapes the village is difficult to reach
Industry & Trade

History
Chorta was founded 100 years prior but only in the last 50 years has it found use in the ashfall and flowers that grow in the surrounding valleys. It was only 12 years ago that the other reaches of the world came to know Chorta and began to make a point of finding their way to the village to buy their goods. Currently, there are many offers and engineers working on finding a way to traverse the mountains and sea to bring a proper trade route to the village.
Architecture
Tall peaked homes and metal spires with clay walls and clay brick roads that are resistant to the heat of the ashfalls.
Geography
Chorta is nestled in the foothills and steep rolling valleys at the foot of a sudden and sheer mountain.
