Locumtempus Faeroxae

Locumtempus Faeroxae is the sage's name for the connected phenomena of time and location in the Feywild.   The Feywild is divided into four quadrants, each perpetually experiencing the season associated with their courts. The Winter Court occupies the northeastern portion, the Spring Court operates the southeastern portion (including the largest part of the coastline of the Rádeghrein Sea), the Summer Court occupies the southwestern portion (including the origin of the River Faérie), and the Autumn Court occupies the northwestern portion. Each fluctuates within the boundaries of its own season, in a cycle four times as slow as Locumtempus Materiae. The Solstices correspond with the warmest summer and harshest winter in their respective courts, while the equinoxes bring the most moderate weather to the spring and autumn.   According to accounts gleaned from Planewalkers and the few Fool's Tomes recovered after the death of their authors, the radius of the Feywild is seventeen years on each side. Whether through extant portals (such as the Crown-Fire Grove) or teleportation (such as through the circle at Solántuinn), extraplanar travel at the edge of the Autumn Court typically sends one seventeen years backwards from their starting point in Locumtempus Materiae; at the edge of the Spring Court, the reverse is true. The Summer Court is the most capricious in regards to the passage of time, typically sending travelers weeks or months forward in time for each day spent in its realm. In contrast, the Winter Court stagnates; one may age weeks or months for each day in its territory, yet return only minutes after they seem to have left. None have crossed the Rádeghrein Sea or The Spine to test whether the rules of Locumtempus Faeroxae break down in these areas.
