Paperdrake Mail
Paperdrake mail is a mail system that uses domesticated Paperdrakes to transport letters quickly between two points. While paperdrakes are too small and frail to carry packages or people, well-trained paperdrakes excel at carrying messages written on paper across long distances.
Most universities and temple-campuses keep a paperdrake warden on staff to handle correspondence for professors, researchers, scribes, and students. The warden will charge a moderate price (usually around 3sp per letter) to send mail written on paper. It is recommended that sensitive information be written via Illusory Script, so that it is immune to the carrier drake's ink manipulation powers. (Well-trained and well-cared-for carrier drakes almost never alter the content of letters unless their grammar is particularly egregious; nonetheless, their innate ability to absorb the meanings of written text they come into contact with makes mundane messages difficult to keep fully secret.)
Istyimar of the Citadel of the Wild were likely the first to tame the wild paperdrakes of the area in the Y400s Age of Complexity, during the reign of Valòmar Kasúlë te-Morigana. Supposedly, after the first long-distance messages were sent to the Eldatar, his staff spent eight days trying to rid the palace in Kyolondë of a supposed drake infestation before the paperdrake with the letter dropped it on his head during a walk through the palace rose garden.
