Followers of the Twelve

The Followers of the Twelve deify the twelve original Martian colonists who arrived in the middle of the 21st century. Their reverence sprung from Hannah Seung's own admiration of her predecessors. Each of the colonists' mission specialty became their patronage (E.g. the chief physician became the god of health and life, the botanist became the god of the harvest, etc.). Though the Twelvers have much respect for Hannah, their religion directly contradicts the Children of Mars' theology. This has been a source of much contention and resentment, and the rivalry between the Children and the Twelvers is the most prominent religious/political conflict on Mars.
