Lee Hsu

Petty Officer Third Class Hsu Lee

Lee Hsu was a survivor of World War 3 and a member of Luna's Lucky Seven.   Hsu was a junior Non-Commissioned Officer in the Chinese PLA Marine Corps. In 2114 he was stationed at Chang'e City, China's Lunar Colony. Hsu was assigned to the PLAMC force ordered to attack Tranquility Base in the opening days of World War 3.   Hsu was an assistant squad leader in the second wave, which was ordered to attack after the first wave suffered almost 100% casualties just trying to breach Tranquility Base. In the corridors of Tranquility Base, Hsu took part in the intense close quarters combat. Hsu's squad was almost entirely wiped out.   Hsu eventually stumbled upon a group of hiding civilians including Irena Chen-Meyer, Patricia Allard and a young Olivia Allard. Because Hsu was weary of the fighting and because Olivia reminded him of his own little sister, Hsu decided not to report back to the front lines and instead protect this group of survivors. This action may have saved Hsu's life as Major Thomas Bowden's counterattack nearly eliminated the remaining Chinese attack force.   Hsu began a dialogue with Irena, as she was mostly fluent in Mandarin. They agreed to work together for survival. Some of the American survivors wanted to tear Hsu apart for his participation in the battle, but Irena made sure he wouldn't be harmed since he helped protect them. When it became clear that they would have to abandon Tranquility Base and seek help from Chang'e City, Hsu offered to contact the Chinese base, explain their situation, and try to vouch for the American survivors.   When the Lunar survivors were forced to cull their numbers to conserve resources, Hsu was one of the eight selected to remain alive, becoming one of the seven Lunar colonists to ultimately survive World War 3. He worked closely with Irena, developing a romantic relationship with her as time went on.   Before rescue, Hsu and Irena would have children together - the second couple among the Seven to do so. The couple gave birth to twins, a boy and girl, who they decided to name according to the corresponding parent's traditional naming scheme. Hsu named their son Lee Ming, while Irena named their daughter Yue Chen-Meyer. Hsu decided to stay on Luna with Irena to raise their kids.
