Midwayan

Midway Station's civilian inhabitants are a mix of cultures based on the organizations that owned the station. Midway had originally been constructed as a service and refueling station for ships headed along interplanetary trajectories. The station has changed hands between the Transnational Aerospace Security Alliance (TASA) and the Pacific Asia Coalition several times over the course of a few 23rd century conflicts, and as a result, the inhabitants are mostly descended from these organizations' member nations. Early Midwayans had a broad array of origins from Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America.   Life on Midway Station is fairly austere, so most who immigrate only do so for work opportunities. Due to the higher background radiation and lack of spin-gravity outside of the habitat sections, Midway Station is more favorable to Synthetically Adapted Human Beings than baseline humans. Many SAHBs immigrate to Island 3 for work, and have taken up permanent residence, contributing to a large portion of the Midwayan population.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

English, Japanese, Chinese, Lunaric (Midwayan Dialect)

Shared customary codes and values

Midwayans tend to have a strong work ethic. The conflict and hardship brought on by the PAC and TASA military presence give Midwayans a strong resentment for Asians, Europeans, and Americans from Earth. There is a growing sentiment for Midway Station's independence as most Midwayans have negative views towards whatever occupying military is present (currently TASA).
