Selmzi Charm
A tube instrument often worn as a necklace. Its the practice of capturing or buying a live selmzi that sits in a small water tube for its whole life. The intention is that if a ryclin were to ever carelessly consume the person, they would ingest and release the parasite into their body, and the victim would be avenged when the ryclin combusts. In practice as this idea got around, the idea was to even further deter any voracious ryclin incidents by just the chance of a charm being present. A selmzi could survive a few years on just water alone, making it easy to keep as long as it stayed bottled.
When carelessly handled, this charm can also be a risk to spreading the selmzi. Even in cases where it serves its purpose, no one can assure where the ryclin exploded would be safe, or if it was a waste in moments where the ryclin had compressed herbal medication, or merely disarmed the person entirely of their charm. If this caused a great regional selmzi infection, or even infested a trade world, it would do far more harm than good. After some debate, it became an outlawed tool, but was still popular in some select underground market. Cauven played a large role in its event, going through two years of a trend, but soon finding a spreading population of the parasite hurting its own ecosystem. Selmzi were kept from spreading further into the Kasar universe, but some still are occasionally found on Cauven today with uncertainty if it came from tool or mere crossing. Yet, Some paranoid and innocent citizens may still covet a concealed piece when walking in ryclin-dense areas. Vyras has become one of the most common distributers, given they essentially farm the parasite for their own use, and have no concern of its spread across the simulation.
