White Knight of Pholtus Jafaan

Jafaan is a human of Suloise ancestry, and an adventurer hailing from the Pale. He has become entangled with an adventuring party in 568 CY, largely functioning as the party's heart.
He is a follower of Pholtus.

Personal history

Jafaan's early days were pretty bog standard, he used to argue with his sibling, play in the mud and climb trees etc etc, but from the day he was entering his teens a painful mark appeared on his face, changing his once mild and good nature to something more chaotic and malicious. On the same day however his parents had summoned a man of Pholtus to come take him away to a temple to become a pholtan paladin. The reasoning for this happening, unknown to Jafaan, his parents had made a deal with a fiend before he was even born, that in exchange for wealth and a stable living, their firstborn child shall become the property of said demon on the morn of his transition from boy to man. During this time his parents were followers of Pholtus, though they weren't fully committed. Thinking they could plan ahead and outsmart the fiend by having Jafaan trained to become a holy paladin of order and the law when the time came, and thus mitigate the negative of this deal, they accepted and lived how they comfortably until the time came.
During his training, it seemed like he was a lost cause at first, but eventually it appeared the inquisitors and priests had managed to dampen the evil effects through various rituals and practices, Jafaan's memory of all this being a blur considering he wasn't fully himself at the time. And though the mark remained he was eventually deemed 'cured'. However the marks purpose was clear to any person of a the faith or arcana, one of a dark influence and partial possession, so upon finishing his Paladin training Jafaan found a helm and swore never to remove it in anothers presence for it is a mark of corruption.
Afterwards he briefly returned to his family, but having to constantly hide his face from them grew too much for him and so he set out into the world. To prove that he is an individual of good and that no mark shall define him. But he still feels like there's something sinister that lurks deep within his unconsciousness, supressed but there.
