Dark Folk
The Dark Folk, encompassing Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves, are driven by distrust and vengeance towards their close relatives, theElves and Dwarves . This deep-seated enmity stems from a history of mistreatment and physical differences, leading them to seek refuge underground, where they underwent further transformations.
The Fall from Grace
The Dark Folk are said to have emerged from a rift caused by the growing disdain and prejudice of their kin. The legends whisper of a great tragedy that befell the Elven and Dwarven societies—a tragedy born from envy and fear. As the Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves began to exhibit unique physical traits, including their dark skin, two ears, and the absence of beards, their relatives grew suspicious. Some believed these differences were signs of corruption or a curse, while others thought they were simply lesser beings unworthy of their noble lineage. As a result, the Elves and Dwarves cast their darker kin aside, treating them as outcasts and pariahs. This mistreatment created a deep-seated despair within the Dark Folk, giving rise to feelings of betrayal and abandonment. The Dark Folk's hearts hardened, and their spirits darkened, giving birth to an insatiable hunger for vengeance against those who had once been their family. This transformation has earned them the moniker "fallen brothers and sisters" of the Elves and Dwarves .The Descent into the Underground
In their anguish and anger, the Dark Folk sought refuge in the depths of the earth. The underground, a realm of darkness and shadow, became their new home, and it was here that their transformation began in earnest. The harsh conditions of the subterranean world further altered them, amplifying their physical differences and solidifying their distrust of outsiders. The myths tell of powerful magic infused into the very soil and stone of the underground, a magic that fed off their anger and despair. This dark magic entwined with their very essence, enhancing their abilities and granting them powers that their ancestors had never known. It also twisted their hearts, intensifying their desires for retribution and destruction. The Awakening of the Fallen
As time passed, the Dark Folk evolved into the formidable beings we recognize today. They became known as the Fallen, a term that reflects their tragic descent from grace. Their dark skin became a symbol of their suffering and resilience, while their sharp features and intense eyes conveyed a sense of power and menace. The Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves, once part of a unified lineage, now stood apart, consumed by their hatred and yearning for revenge against their former kin. Yet, the myth does not end in tragedy. Some Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves, known as Resurgents, began to emerge from the shadows. They sought to reclaim their identities and reconcile with their heritage. These individuals were determined to overcome the rage and despair that had long defined their existence. The Resurgents chose to live at the surface, embracing the light while remaining wary of outsiders. They believed in the possibility of a new beginning, one where the past could be acknowledged but not allowed to dictate their future. The Legacy of Distrust
Despite the emergence of the Resurgents, the legacy of distrust between the Dark Folk and their kin remains. The Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves are often viewed as dangerous and unpredictable, their hearts still filled with the bitterness of betrayal. The myth of their origins serves as a cautionary tale, warning of the consequences of prejudice and division. Both Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves have become prime targets for brain spouter colonies due to their rage-filled hearts and general distrust. These colonies find it easier to control and use the Dark Folk as servants, exploiting their inherent hostility and isolation.Basic Information
